Meditation On Purpose - setting the intention

Tuesday April 2, 9, 16, 23 @ 530PM

With these sessions we will spend time exploring our own practice, intentions, myths and perhaps levels of why we meditate. I would even love to start using a different term for ‘meditation’ as meditation seems so loaded and inaccessible for many people as the myths feel over powering.

Maybe I’ll even refer to it as Practicing Slow-Ness. changing our Brain Waves, Sitting with Self, Practicing presence and awareness, Connecting with Higher Source or Guidance or Wisdom. Or maybe centering. befriending the mind, the body, the soul. Maybe…getting to know your soul.

The Quantum Psychology Series

can be attended as individual session or as a series.

Session 1 - considering the 6 levels of Awareness and practices surrounding

  • Outside World, Biology, Mental, Emotional, Essence, I AM

Session 2 - Working at I AM Level and Essence layer

Session 3 - Working directly with thoughts and layers

Session 4 - Working directly with emotions and layers

Join me to explore these philosophies from Quantum Psychology practices.

The below is an excerpt from the book Stepping Out of Self Deception by Rodney Smith.

This book sang to me at the right time and it really echoes what I feel as what I feel I also wish to influence within people of the general perception of what and why meditation is and maybe more importantly isn’t.

“What do we want from our spiritual/meditation practice? And how do we define the destination? Are we using the right methods and techniques to align us with the desired result.

Many of us are so eager to get started and feel the much publicized benefits of mindfulness that we miss asking these deeper questions.  Yet the direction we set and the means we use to get there will fundamentally guide our practice from beginning to end.

Upon first sitting down to contemplate our spiritual purpose and direction it becomes apparent that thoughts intrude immediately on whatever we are doing and interrupt the quiet we assumed was so accessible. How we frame our final destination and purpose will immediately affect how we work with these thoughts. For eg if we are looking for piece of mind, we’ll assume these thoughts are in opposition to the tranquility we seek and we’ll look for peace in a mind that is free of thinking.  But... if our destination is to understand what the mind is and who we are within it? Then, we will want to observe the nature of thought, what it is and how it drives us.

As we press forward, we’ll also discover that the more effort we apply to eliminating our thoughts the more thoughts arise from that effort. And conversely the more we attempt to observe our thoughts and understand the mind...the quieter our mind becomes. As we learn about the nature of mind our destination must be amendable to change”.
