14 Day C.R.A.P. Cleanse

The 14 Day Cleanse is a great place for the beginner to start!! It can also be a time frame for some of us that like a quick re-focus our health. The rules are easy, whole foods only and see the difference it can make. For the more health invested or beyond beginner level of health challenge and not sure where to turn, consider the 21 Day Detox, or The Detox 2.0.

Some of you may know aspects of my own journey, the 21-Day Holistic Detox (coming soon) is actually my most beloved program that I offer.  To discover more about the foods that are aggravating us and our well-being.  I'm so passionate about bc it IS the program that changed my life and my health quite dramatically. 

 There was something not right with my health and was tough to pinpoint.  Was a difficult endeavor, bc change is hard! but once I built myself up to actually partake, with the help of a friend... I never really looked back...a new way of being arrived. 

Well, some find the 21 days a difficult endeavor also.  So what I did was create a drop-down version.  The 14-Day CRAP Cleanse was born!!  Anyone can do anything for 14 days :)   The rules are super simple, but the implementation can be challenging...so we do it together!  So if you are wanting to shift your health, not quite sure how to start...the 14-Day Program can be a great and gentle step to begin to see and feel the differences conscious decisions can make.

This Cleanse is different….why?

Simply said…we are going to get the CRAP out!  CRAP being an acronym for Carbohydrate-rich Refined and Artificial Processed foods.  This is a no fad, nothing extreme, no starving, no potions or lotions, or anything special involved at all.  Instead, we are going to eat…pure and simple…2 weeks to feel a difference.

Does Cleansing Really Work?

Yes. While it’s true that our bodies are great at detoxing on their own, it’s also true that these days, our environment and food system is overloaded with toxic and synthetic chemicals, making it tough for our systems to keep up. Detoxing is a nebulous and overly-marketed concept, though, and there’s a lot of crap out there.  One of my fave books is Slow Death by Rubber Duck: The Secret Danger of Everyday Things and Toxin Toxout: Getting Harmful Chemicals Out of Our Bodies and Our World.  The Authors Bruce Lourie and Rick Smith, exposed themselves to everyday average stuff like pesticides and chemicals from personal care products, as well as, canned foods and plastic container-ed foods.  They then tested their blood and sweat and then tried various things to flush the toxins out. The results are fascinating (and funny) and show beyond a shadow of a doubt the importance of not only avoiding but also cleansing to allow our bodies’ amazing self-cleaning systems to do the jobs they were designed to do!! 

What is CRAP anyway and where does it come from?

Hold your snickers please…lol!

C – Carbohydrate-rich - All carbs are not created equal.  Think of carbohydrates (carbs) as fuel, the gasoline of the body, it’s not a bad thing at all, even though they get a bad rap!  Let’s clear this up a bit. 

A carb is any food that essentially is not fat or protein.  It gets a bit complicated as there are 2 types, complex and simple. 

Complex carbs are generally made up of fiber and sugar together (natural, unrefined).  The fiber helps slow down our body’s conversion time from chewing to blood sugar.  

Simple carbs are essentially sugar, plain and simple.  

R – Refined - refined by definition means to remove impurities or unwanted elements.  An industrial process of refining leaves a desired product, ie fossil fuels, oils, etc, with an unwanted byproduct, ie waste.  Unfortunately, when we apply refining to our food sources, it leaves the food mostly devoid of all nutrients, fiber, and enzymes that all life, healthy bodies, and minds are built upon. 

 

A – Artificial - is weird!!!!  Why would we eat artificial anything when the real thing is available, and tastes way better?  If it’s not butter…. what the heck is it????  Eeewwww!!!!

 

P – Processed – every step that food goes through from moving from ground to table, is just that a process.  Each step hijacks the plant or animal of life-giving elements, energy, nutrients, enzymes, and deliciousness!

CRAP food is utterly crap and can contribute to some or all of;

If your looking for wellness it is paramount to get educated in my opinion. There’s so much confusing info out there…let’s see if we can create something possible and be motivated as we go!

I follow Metabolic Typing, Primal Food Patterning, Whole Food and specializing in Gluten Free and Grain free living. I am not in the Vegetarian game. If you are a practicing V/V you’re welcome to participate in this program, as group outings can be more fun and more successful. Many of my recipes will support Veg lifestyle, but certainly not targeted towards V/V support. If you feel you need guidance towards being a healthy/healthier vegetarian, seeking a health coach in that specialty would be best as I am not equipped in optimizing health through V/V lifestyle.
